Dummy Cord ALL THE THINGS!

Belt clips can get you killed...

Have you ever been practicing a reload and had a belt clip fail? In one hand you have an empty gun, in the other hand a magazine that won’t go into your gun because it is trapped in a piece of plastic. If that happens while you are defending yourself, it could certainly cost your your life.

It is unlikely that you will ever need to use your gun to defend yourself.

Needing to reload during a defensive shooting is also not likely.

It is not likely that your life will depend on a small piece of plastic securing your spare magazine to your belt.

However, unlikely things happen every day, that’s why we carry in the first place.

Not all belt clips are created equal, and some are better than others. At TickMade, however, we don’t trust ANY of them without a dummy cord back-up system. The same thing can happen on your firearm holster, which is why we recommend tying a piece of paracord or shock cord to the “wing” on a Kydex holster and securing it to your belt.

If it isn’t tied down, it isn’t secure. Dummy cord your holster, your wallet, your keys… Dummy cord ALL THE THINGS.

A Message From the Designer...

The MagClam was designed for every day carry, by someone who actually carries EVERY DAY.

Have you ever used a piece of gear and quickly concluded that it whoever built it never carried a gun in their life, let alone for a full day?

The MagClam was designed for one person: me. I couldn’t find a magazine carry system that functioned adequately, nor that I could trust with my life. So, I built it myself.

I’m certainly not a cool guy who does cool guy tactical stuff for my job. Rather, I’m a regular guy who carries a gun to protect his family, because this is America. However, dudes who do cool guy tactical stuff have weighed in on the development of the TickMade MagClam.

The MagClam is the result of years of REAL WORLD use. The concept is simple, but it has been perfected overtime.

How it is made...

Why is The MagClam by TickMade 3D printed?

The short answer is that, using 3D printing technology, the TickMade MagClam is more compact than a traditional Kydex design. This makes the MagClam more comfortable, and easier to conceal.

The TickMade MagClam also holds the magazine in a different position. The dummy cord retention system sits high on the magazine body, which allows the magazine to sit lower. A lower riding magazine conceals easier, and doesn’t poke you in the gut when you sit down. Short body MagClams are also available for users who want the magazine to ride higher above the belt.

Additionally, 3D printing allows for some features not normally seen on other magazine carriers. Most of the MagClam designs include a tie-down on the bottom, for securing the carrier places others can’t go. The tie-down can be used with the supplied shock cord loop, but paracord is recommended for more secure mounting.

The MagClam is printed in high grade PLA Pro from Polymaker (unless otherwise noted). PLA has great impact resistance and tensile strength. It does, however, soften at lower temperatures than Kydex. Temperatures over 200°F may cause your carrier to deform.

Of course, if your body ever reaches 200°F, then you have been cooked to “very well done”. MagClams have been left in hot cars without issues. However, placing it in a glove compartment or center console, out of direct sunlight, is highly recommended. If you do ever manage to destroy a MagClam, it comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee!
